Welcome

Welcome to the Prairie Dog Central Railway, operated by the Vintage locomotive Society.
It is one of the most authentic, operating short railway still existing. This year, 2009 , we have a brand-new concept. Instead of "just a train ride" we offer an event on every trip.
For details, go to Schedules and Fares.

We are proud to announce that Steamer #3 is operating this year, after a 5-year restoration project.
The steamer was built in 1882, which makes it 127 years old. Now it is like new, and it runs very smoothly.
It has a new boiler, and new paint, and conforms to all government regulations, so it is much safer than the original ever was.
Take a look at Steamer #3 web page.

Watch a video of Steamer #3 leaving the station after undergoing an extended 5-year restoration.
This was taken on Mothers Day, 2009.

Experience a train journey across the prairies aboard fully restored vintage rail coaches built between 1901-1913.  During your journey, enjoy your visit at the Country Markets of Grosse Isle and Warren, Manitoba.  Craft and food vendors are on site, or bring your own basket for a good old fashioned family picnic.

The Prairie Dog Central Railway offers Regular Saturday and Sunday trips, Holiday Monday and Family Day Specials, all-inclusive Dining Excursions, Halloween trips and Santa Trains!  There is something for everyone from May through December.

Add your own fun and have a party on the Party Caboose... or arrange a Charter and have the train to yourself!  Click on any of the menu items above to start your adventure!

The Prairie Dog Central Railway .....
More than just a train ride!
